(Behavioural)

«Tell me about yourself»

▸ I'm a [role] with [N] years of experience in [area].
▸ My background is primarily in [technology stack].
▸ Most recently, I've been working on [project type] where I [achievement].
▸ I'm particularly passionate about [aspect of work].
▸ Outside of work, I enjoy [relevant hobby] which keeps me [benefit].
That's what brought me to this role».

«Tell me about a challenge you faced»

▸ In my previous role, we faced a situation where…
▸ The main challenge was that we had to [constraint] while also [other constraint].
▸ I decided to approach it by…
▸ Looking back, I would have [improved approach], but the outcome was [positive result].
▸ This taught me the importance of [lesson learned].

«Why do you want to work here?»

▸ I've been following [company] for a while, and what stands out to me is…
▸ The technical challenges your team is working on align well with my expertise in [area].
▸ I'm particularly excited about [product/project] because…
▸ I admire how [company] approaches [aspect] — specifically [example].
▸ This role seems like a natural next step for me because [growth reason].

«Tell me about a disagreement with a teammate»

▸ We had a technical disagreement about [approach A] vs [approach B].
▸ I made sure to listen to their perspective first before sharing mine.
▸ I suggested we [data-driven resolution — prototype/test/discuss with lead].
▸ We ultimately went with [solution] because [objective reason].
▸ The experience reinforced how important it is to [lesson].

▸ Let me think through this step by step.
▸ That's an interesting question. My first instinct is…
▸ Before I answer, can I clarify — are you asking about [X] or [Y]?
▸ The way I see it, there are a few approaches here…
▸ I'll start with the simple case and then add complexity.

«Trade-offs

▸ The trade-off here is between [X] and [Y].
▸ It really depends on the scale — for [small/large] systems, I'd recommend…
▸ One approach is [A], which gives you [advantage] but comes with [downside].
▸ If performance is the priority, I'd lean towards [solution] because…
▸ In practice, I've seen this solved by [pattern], which handles [edge case] well.

▸ That's a great question — I haven't encountered that specific scenario, but my approach would be…
▸ I'm not 100% sure of the details, but I know it's related to [general concept].
▸ I'd want to look that up to give you an accurate answer. What I can say is…
▸ Let me reason through it from first principles…
▸ In interviews I've had, this usually comes down to [general principle].

Small talk

How are you?»»

▸ Really well, thanks! I've been looking forward to this conversation.
▸ Great, thank you! I spent some time this morning reading about [company news] — really interesting stuff.
▸ Good, a bit nervous but excited — I always enjoy technical discussions.

▸ What does a typical day look like for someone in this role?
▸ What are the biggest technical challenges the team is facing right now?
▸ How would you describe the engineering culture here?
▸ What does success look like in the first 90 days?
▸ What do you enjoy most about working here?
«No questions» — красный флаг.
